Senator Imee Marcos expressed gratitude to her allies, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Nacionalista Party, for their support despite facing criticism during her re-election campaign.
SHE was absent during the proclamation of the senatorial candidates of the Alyansa ng Bagong Pilipinas, where she was supposed to be one of the 12 administration candidates. And then, a few days later, Sen. Imee Marcos, on the day commemorating the death of her father, made a strange announcement. She thanked her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., for defending her inclusion in the administration ticket despite what she termed as the hatred and excessive cruelty of some toward her.
And it is here that Senator Marcos may have unintentionally revealed an important aspect of her recent political move. If we construe accurately what Senator Marcos' statement was telling and not telling us, there seems to be a suggestion that the Dutertes may have begun doubting her sincerity and that she made the move not only to protect her brother but to reaffirm her alliance with the Dutertes.Politically, it is easy to consider the move of Senator Marcos as risky.
