‘Impossible’: OK finally given for Sydney’s biggest waterfront sale

“Imagine the incredible family home or estate that could be established on a block of this size. If this was in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, it would be at least 10 times the price.

“We expect interest from retirement living operators, church groups and schools looking to use it as a potential retreat, individuals wanting a rural lifestyle in the city and of course developers.”In 1920, the estate was subdivided and Boronia Parade was constructed. A large portion of the land has since been cleared, containing three access points on Boronia Parade and Ballanda Ave.

Locals have called for the council and state government to acquire the Lugarno property and take it out of private hands, with over 600 people joining a public Facebook group ‘Save Glenlee Lugarno’. Over the past 12 months, median house prices in Lugarno have dropped by nine per cent – with the average home costing $1.56m to buy, according to PropTrack.
