Bill Shorten has unleashed on Scott Morrison’s “humiliating and embarrassing” role in the Robodebt scandal as he refuses to shed light on whether the former prime minister could face prosecution.

The Holmes Royal Commission handed down its long-awaited findings on Friday in which it declared the controversial debt recovery scheme was illegal and was rushed through cabinet.sealed section in which the Commission recommended referrals for criminal and civil prosecutionThe names of those recommended for referral or the four civil and criminal agencies to which they have been referred have not been made public.

“I think the sealed section remains sealed, that was the royal commissioner’s direction,” Mr Shorten told Sky News Australia’s Political Editor Andrew Clennell. The Commission found former ministers Stuart Robert, Alan Tudge, Christian Porter and Mr Morrison had some hand in the formulation and operation of the scheme.

“As for the rest of the cabal of embarrassed and disgraced ministers, they mightn’t have been referred to a criminal agency or other civil agencies but their reputations are in tatters.”
