I have been a nurse for 30 years and come from a family of nurses so it is in my blood to do my job to its full capacity.

We are acutely aware of how intolerable it must be for our patients, sick, in pain and often scared, to wait for hours on end to see a doctor or nurse, even if they do understand the reason for the delay. I have never in my whole nursing career seen the hospital quite as it is now. Patients who require critical care are having to wait on the ward or in the operating theatre or emergency department until a bed is found.
