Severe weather is anticipated Sunday with continuing storms as a strong cold front is expected to pass over the region. Damaging winds, localized flash flooding, hail and even a few tornadoes will all be possible. The greatest storm threat will be between early afternoon and late evening. The earliest storms could start around noon.
HEADS UP — we’ve got a growing risk of strong and damaging storms tomorrow. Yes, tornadoes are possible . Most action starts after 1pm and concludes in the evening. The National Weather Service has said there is a prominent increase in tornado threat for the area Sunday, noting the rare issuance of elevated tornado probabilities by its storm prediction center.
The threat for a pop-up shower and storm remains in the forecast much of the day Sunday, but the main focus will be during the mid to late afternoon hours as a line of showers and thunderstorms develop and advance east, some of which could become strong to severe with hail, gusty wind, and localized flooding.
