ARC Fitness' annual 'recovery walk' aims to 'tackle stigma of substance use and empower communities to believe recovery is possible'

"My background, I suppose, is that I'm 12 years sober. I went back and retrained as a mental health nurse when I eventually got sober. I had substance abuse issues for 15 years before I managed to get consistently clean and ready for it.
He continued: "We ran a pilot programme - we didn't have a premises - but Mags Campbell, who now works here for us, was the manager of Pure Gym in Derry and she let us run a programme up the stairs. We measured all the outcomes and published it as a piece of research through Queen's University, Belfast."
He added: “When we look at people we make sure we look at the physical aspect. We try to give people a really good physical grounding, and then we help them with education, CBT, group therapy sessions.
