India's record day of Covid deaths: 3,689 are killed by virus
Five Indian states named winners from elections held in March and April that were seen as a test of the impact the devastating second wave of the pandemic is having on support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Hospitals, morgues and crematoriums are being overwhelmed by an enormous second wave of coronavirus infections and deaths. A record 3,689 daily deaths were reported on Sunday with 392,488 new cases being recorded - a marginal dip from a record set on Saturday.
