A mother taking the bus in western Massachusetts was struck by a stray bullet on Wednesday, forcing doctors to deliver a baby to render life-saving aid. The shooting took place in downtown Holyoke, a small city of about 37,000 just north of Springfield. Police responded to the shooting around 12.
It is unclear how far along the mother was in her pregnancy. ‘The infant, who was delivered, and needed life-saving medical services, tragically passed away,’ Gullumi said. The Massachusetts State Police deployed investigative units and K-9 teams to assist local officers in tracking down all suspects involved in the argument. Around 7.00pm on Wednesday night, Holyoke Mayor Joshua Garcia confirmed that all involved suspects are in custody. The shooting remains under investigation.
