She underwent emergency surgery but could not be saved
The Cane Corso-type dog was discovered by a cyclist in the Temple Newsam estate on November 25. They took the very skinny dog to Vets4Pets in Birstall, where it was found to have a prolapsed vagina and mastitis. She appeared to have recently given birth to puppies.Greater Manchester Animal Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery. But the infection she had developed as a result of the prolapse was so serious that she had to be put down.
The dog was grey in colour and her right ear has been cut. She was microchipped, but no details had been registered. If anyone has information about the owner of the Cane Corso or they recognise the dog or know of the whereabouts of her puppies then they are asked to ring the RSPCA appeals line number on 0800 123 8018.
