The death of a Nottinghamshire teenager, who went missing after a night out, was "consistent with drowning", an inquest has been told. Jacob Crompton, aged 19 and from Retford , was reported missing on Sunday, March 24, after failing to return home from a night out in Retford town centre.
An inquest was opened into Jacob's death on Friday, June 28, at Nottingham Council House by Michael Wall, Assistant Coroner for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Mr Wall said: "I am today opening an inquest touching on the death of Jacob David Crompton."He was born on September 10, 2004, and died on April 27, 2024, aged 19. Jacob died at the River Idle land in Nottinghamshire.
"I certify that in accordance with my statutory duty I am now opening an inquest touching on the death of Jacob David Crompton. This hearing now stands adjourned for completion of further inquiries and will resume for a final hearing on a date yet to be fixed.
