Donald Prentice Patience, 45, originally from Inverness, was discovered dead dead at his home on Tuesday, August 22.

An inquest into the murder of a Scot opened and adjourned after a 'dog-napping' report was made to the police.

During a hearing at Rochdale Coroner's Court today a man was charged with his murder and a trial date has been fixed for next year, reports the Manchester Evening News. A Home Office post-mortem examination has been held, but no cause of death has been established as yet, the hearing was told. In a tribute issued through Greater Manchester Police, Mr Patience's family said he was a 'much-loved son, brother and father and will be sorely missed by many, affectionately known as Prentice'.The inquest heard he appeared at Manchester and Salford magistrates court on August 26 and was remanded in custody.
