Rayan Malik Maqbool died from a form of childhood liver cancer
A three-year-old boy died after he was admitted to hospital with pneumonia, an inquest opening has heard.
Area Coroner Zak Golombeck said the three-year-old was 'immunosuppressed' as a result of a previous liver transplant due to hepatomblastoma - a type of childhood liver cancer."Rayan was admitted to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital on February 8 presenting with respiratory distress," Mr Golombeck told the court.
Pneumocystis pneumonia is a serious infection caused by the fungus Pneumocystis jirovecii. Most people who get PCP have a medical condition that weakens their immune system.
