Interview with Arne Slot from the United States of America as the Liverpool head coach opens up on transfer plans, Joe Gomez future and Trent Alexander-Arnold contract issue
After three successive victories on Liverpool's first pre-season tour of the United States in five years, Arne Slot has justification for feeling that his grand plans are starting to take shape on the pitch. The club's wider strategy when it comes to the transfer market, however, have rarely been more opaque and with less than a month left of the window, the Reds remain the only team in the Premier League who are yet to add to their ranks. The reasons for that, of course, are numerous.
' Slot says he does not have a number in mind for how many he would like to bring in before the September 1 deadline but Liverpool's squad appears to be a bloated one on paper. An initial 28-man contingent was taken Stateside before Diogo Jota, Ibrahima Konate, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister joined up with their colleagues on the tour at various points.
