The pub closed in 2005
Tenants have started moving into homes built at a social housing development that's transformed an old pub site in St Ann's. The 28-home development has been built where the Dame Agnes Mellers once stood on the corner of Woodborough Road and Manning Road.
With some tenants already moved in, work continues on the rest of the properties. Mr Renwick said the association provided housing for tenants on low income who can afford to pay the rent, which is based on the size of each property and location.“There’s a desperate need for housing for people on low income in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire," he said. Rents for some of the properties start at £110.77 per week.
Mr Renwick said: “We decided to name the schemes after these two key people in Nottingham who made an impact, Des was once a tenant of ours and we wanted to honour their contribution to the city.” “A portion of our schemes are funded by government grants, the rest are loans from the bank, it took a while for this scheme to get on the ground,” he added.
