Ready for the apocalypse, never mind Brexit!

A huge secret warehouse has been packed fill with baked beans, toilet rolls and plum tomatoes in preparation for a no deal-Brexit.They have thousands of pallets of toilet paper and medical supplies in the 18,000sqm building to keep health services running. Without it, hospitals across the country would grind to a halt.

There are enough cereals, cotton swabs and surgery gloves to keep NHS Wales going for around eight weeks at a cost of £4million.Director of procurement Mark Roscow has overseen the operation to fill the warehouse. ‘It’s been a challenge both in terms of acquiring the building, which we had a lot of support from Welsh Government to do, and mobilising.Thousands of pallets of food are being stored in the huge building

As well as this warehouse, NHS Wales also uses storage in Denbigh, Bridgend and Cwmbran for its normal operations. Each of those warehouses also holds a month’s supply which can be used in the event of any delays.
