Tess is back on our screens tonight for the BBC Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special
Weekend evenings mean one thing - Strictly Come Dancing. And that isn't set to change even on Christmas Day as the festival special hits our screens.
Away from Strictly Come Dancing, Tess shares very little of her private life on social media. Born Helen Elizabeth Daly, Tess, now 53, changed her name as an 18-year-old when she was scouted outside McDonald's and given the opportunity to begin a modelling career. At that time, there was already a model named Helen Daly, so she was asked to pick a different one.
It was at this time that Tess, originally from Stockport, met her now-husband, Horwich-born Vernon Kay, now 48. Tess and Vernon first locked eyes while he was working as a presenter on Channel 4's T4 back in 2001. Tess described their first meeting as 'explosive' and it wasn't long before they were officially dating, Daily Star reports.
They've since gone on to have two children together, welcoming their first daughter Phoebe in 2004, followed by their second daughter Amber in 2009. "I knew it was getting silly. I'm never going to do it again and hopefully I can clear the slate clean and start again. I'm so sorry. I've been an idiot and I've let my family down."
The couple tend to keep their private life under wraps as much as possible. On Tess' Instagram page, she mostly shares glam snaps of her Strictly outfits, mixed in with the occasional selfie of herself and Vernon. The couple barely ever share images of their children, or their home life.
