Urban explorer Matt who lives in Rochdale discovered what the place looks like now
Pontins Holiday Park in Southport closed its doors for the final time earlier this year. Britannia Hotels, the owner of the complex, announced the news on Wednesday, January 3, much to the dismay of holidaymakers and locals alike.
Talking to the Manchester Evening News previously, Matt said: "There are big misconceptions about what I do. I am not trying to encourage people to put themselves in danger or take any risks. I am doing that on behalf of people, to give people an insight into the amazing history of some of these buildings that they see every day and don't think about.
Matt describes Pontins Southport as though "time had stood still," with the holiday flats intact, including kitchen appliances and furniture in the rooms themselves. Outside the rooms, a small play area can also be seen in the images, with wooden swing sets and a picnic bench in the common grassy part.
