For 140 years, the Beach Lawn House, the childhood home of Bruce Ismay, a key figure in the Titanic tragedy, remained hidden from public view. Now, under new ownership, the stunning Victorian Villa has been opened to the public, offering guests the chance to stay in what was once Thomas Ismay's lounge, dining room, and billiard room. The ECHO spoke to Clifford Ismay, a fourth cousin, twice removed, of Thomas, who shared his experience staying in the historic house.

In 1860 a man by the name of Thomas Henry Ismay bought Beach Lawn House , inbeach. Crews from White Star Line ships are said to have saluted the house as they sailed past it on the River Mersey.
Bruce Ismay took over the running of the White Star line when his father retired. He became arguably one of the most well known survivors of the Titanic after the film adaptation. He commissioned the build of RMS Titanic, in 1912, and came to international attention as the highest-ranking White Star official to survive the sinking of the ship for which he was subject to severe criticism.
His childhood home had been sold by his dad in 1882, when he was 13, and was privately owned, kept under lock and key, until it came under new ownership in 2022.
