It is alleged that corruption in the force might have helped hide a killer after three young victims were murdered following a night out at the Barrowland Ballroom.

A new investigation has been launched into the Bible John murders after it has been alleged that corruption in the police force might have helped to hide a killer.

The 1996 review established McInnes had been picked up by senior detectives two days after Helen’s body was found but was never put in an ID parade and his name had been kept off all case files. Elaine Paterson, whose mother Margaret was Helen’s cousin, said: “From our part of the family, we would love an investigation because what the podcast uncovered opened a can of worms for us.

Allan Mottley, Jemima’s youngest son, said: “When the police officer phoned and said they were going to reinvestigate that was a bit of a bombshell. I never imagined that they would relook at it all. The other two Moylan’s workers were taken to Partick police station and ‘paraded’ in front of Helen’s sister, Jean Langford, who had shared a cab with Helen and her dancing partner on the night she died.

In the podcast McEwan revealed that his review, which proved ‘inconclusive’ in terms of the DNA, found evidence of corruption. Yesterday, McEwan said: “Given the lack of a response we got from the force hierarchy in 1996, we didn’t think our discoveries would ever be examined.
