The Olympic Committee has responded to the controversy

The International Olympic Committee has warned against 'misinformation' after the gender controversy over tests of Algerian boxer Imane Khelif.

"Every person has the right to practice sport without discrimination," the IOC stated. "All athletes participating in the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 comply with the competition's eligibility and entry regulations, as well as all applicable medical regulations set by the Paris 2024 Boxing Unit ."

"Many women can have testosterone in what would be called male levels and still be women, still compete as women," he said. "So this panacea, this idea that you do one test for testosterone and that sorts everything out is not the case I'm afraid. "By the way, this isn't - I should make this absolutely clear for everyone - this is not a transgender issue," he added. "I think there has been some misreporting on this, and I think it is important to say this is not a transgender issue."
