\Mark Dunlop, Cooney's manager, described the boxer as a 'great character' with a 'big future' ahead of him. He expressed the devastating impact of Cooney's passing on the boxing community, stating, 'Every fighter knows the dangers but like everything no one thinks it's going to come to their door.' Dunlop further shared Cooney's belief that 'tomorrow is not promised,' highlighting the young boxer's dedication to living each day to the fullest. \Cooney's family released a statement expressing their profound gratitude for the outpouring of support from the people of Belfast, the wider boxing community, and the staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital.
