Conor McDermott, a former player for Derry City, Cliftonville, and Coleraine, has signed with St James' Swifts, a West Belfast junior football club. This signing adds to their already impressive roster, which includes former Irish League players Jude Winchester and Garry Breen.

A West Belfast junior football club has bolstered its ranks with the addition of another former Irish League star. St James' Swifts already have ex-Cliftonville and Crusaders midfielder Jude Winchester in their ranks. They also have former Cliftonville and Portadown defender Garry Breen. And now they have dipped into the January transfer window with the arrival of another name Irish League fans will recognise.

The Ballymena and Provincial League outfit have announced the signing of Conor McDermott. The 27-year-old has featured for clubs including Derry City, Cliftonville and Coleraine. He was most recently with Loughgall, who he joined back in the summer ahead of the new Irish Premiership season. Now McDermott is preparing for life at ambitious St James' Swifts. Player and committee member Joseph McCall said: 'It's great to have Conor on board. It is another big signing for the club which shows the ambitions and where we want to be. 'We are building a team that can compete the next few years and try and push for promotion. Conor's a good lad and I know him personally, hopefully he can get back enjoying it and push us on. 'With ex-Cliftonville players Jude Winchester and Gary Breen in the squad the talent is frightening. It's probably the best squad we've had since we started intermediate football. 'As well as bringing in Mini Heaney and Joe Diver it will give everyone a lift.
