A man from Ireland residing in Western Australia has received a nine-year and eight-month prison sentence after authorities discovered he had videos and images depicting the sexual abuse of infants and toddlers on his devices.

The Western Australia Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team originally charged the man in July, 2022 after receiving a tip-off from the United States about a person in Australia accessing child abuse material online. After finding the explicit child abuse material of the sexual abuse of infants and toddlers, he was immediately charged, originally facing court in October 2022.

Australian Federal Police Detective Sergeant Karen Addiscott vowed to find anyone exploiting children through online abuse material.
