Leo Varadkar wrote on official notepaper to Kylie Minogue before her Dublin concert offering to welcome her to Ireland personally.
"I understand you are staying in the Merrion Hotel which is just across the street from my office in Government Buildings.The Mail on Sunday said the Department of the Taoiseach had twice refused to release the letter under Freedom of Information laws, arguing it was written in a personal capacity and so"does not relate to matters arising in the course of, or for, the purpose of the Taoiseach's functions as the head of government".
Labour senator Aodhan O Riordain said at a time when the"news is full of debate about homelessness and educational inequality... this is from our Taoiseach". Fianna Fail senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee said Mr Varadkar should be"worrying less about your Kylie concert and more about the desperate housing situation in this country".
