Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones' financial woes have been further highlighted after he asked to liquidate his personal assets amid pressure from the families of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.The controversial Infowars founder asked a court on Thursday to convert his personal bankruptcy filing into a Chapter 7 liquidation as 'there is no reasonable prospect of a successful reorganization' of his debts, reported CNN and Reuters.Jones' money issues stem from the near $1.
Jones had previously resisted asking for his bankruptcy to be moved to a Chapter 7 liquidation. He has so far not paid any of the $1.5 billion he owes to the Sandy Hook families, who themselves asked that Jones liquidate his assets in order to settle the case.In December 2022, Jones filed for bankruptcy two months after a court ruled that he and Free Speech Systems, the parent company of Infowars, should pay the Sandy Hook families in damages for spreading lies about the massacre.
