Summary One underseen villain of the X-Men may be the best evil twin in Marvel history. The evil twin trope is one that is commonly seen and used throughout storytelling, particularly in the Marvel Universe. The likes of Iron Man and Deadpool have dealt with evil twins of themselves, while the similarly themed evil doppelgänger trope is a common one in superhero culture as a whole.

Origin and Powers of the Devastating X-Men Villain Close She immediately makes an impact in her villain debut by campaigning for a mutant genocide in her first appearance, then committing that genocide in the very next issue. It's worth noting that, in addition to having a healing factor that is matched by Wolverine, Cassandra Nova has a grasp on telepathy that is equal to that of Charles Xavier. Being his Mummudrai makes Cassandra the perfect carbon copy of everything Xavier is capable of as a mutant, including telepathy. As such, Nova suffers from the same weaknesses that Xavier is capable of, as well.
The same way that Xavier can speak peace into power, Nova can speak destruction into power with a message of hate. The fact she is able to do just that in her first pair of appearances is proof of that. Her first panel depicts her giving a hateful speech that comes to fruition in the next issue. Xavier preaches a peaceful philosophy and is able to produce results, making him an effective leader. Nova, alternatively, preaches hate and produces genocide instantaneously.
It was already mentioned earlier that the X-Men leader breaks his biggest rule before he is even born in an effort to stop his twin sister's evil from spreading out into the world. His attempt fails, but he gets another chance in New X-Men #116, where he feels compelled to fire six bullets into his sister. It's uncharacteristic of Xavier to murder someone in cold blood like this, but it speaks to exactly how dangerous he's deemed his twin to be only a couple of issues into her debut.
