Alexander Isak praised Sven Botman's performance in Newcastle United's League Cup victory over Arsenal, comparing the defender to a Rolls Royce.
Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has seemingly compared teammate Sven Botman to a Rolls Royce after their 2-2 League Cup win over Arsenal on Tuesday (January 7). Botman, 24, played a full ninety minutes for the Newcastle first-team for the first time since tearing his ACL in their 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Man City in March 2024. The centre-back was substituted in the 89th minute of his comeback game against Tottenham after picking up a small knock.
Isak, 25, opened the scoring in the League Cup semi-final after 38 minutes with a close-range effort coming from a free-kick. Anthony Gordon then doubled Newcastle’s lead just after half-time, securing a place in the final for Eddie Howe’s in-form side. The Dutch defender has been thrust right back into the first team since returning from injury, starting his two games across all competitions, not yet providing a goal contribution in his 179 minutes of action. The Sweden international has established himself as one of the best strikers in England so far this season, starting all 22 of his games across all competitions, scoring 15 goals, and providing four assists in his 1764 minutes on the field.Newcastle are on a seven-game win streak, climbing up to fifth in the Premier League alongside reaching the League Cup final. Howe’s side will face League Two side Bromley for their first FA Cup game of the season, hoping to make further progress in another cup competition
