I'm standing on the Mount of Olives overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem. My guide talks me through this beautiful but contentious place. I've stood here many times before but every time it draws me in. There is the cemetery for Jews on the hillside, and across the road on the valley floor, alongside the walls of the Old City, the cemetery for Muslims.
They are so close we could hear the mosque in the neighbouring Palestinian community across the valley floor and could see it from the settlement just through the trees. The international community regards Israeli settlements like this one as illegal. Ofra is technically built on private Palestinian land, but residents like Aaron Lipkin are unapologetic for their determination to take over more and more land. He tells me they have every right to be here.
