'The NHS has never been as bad as what it is now. It’s absolutely horrendous. Just the thought of getting ill is terrifying'

The state of healthcare in the country has been called a 'joke' after a man died after waiting weeks for a GP appointment.

Kevin, dad to a seven year old boy, died six weeks later at Whiston hospital surrounded by his family. His mum, Odette De Freitas told the ECHO: "I feel like he's been badly let down by the whole system. "At one point they told him to buy a blood pressure machine to do his own observations and that day he was so desperate he walked to the surgery and sat on the steps and he got seen, but you shouldn't have to do that."

She said on Facebook: "The amount of times I’ve heard this happening is unbelievably sad and something needs to change. So sorry for your loss and to the gentleman who lost his life."
