The Tuscan town of Barga is truly a home from home

For many, a holiday abroad marks a chance to escape from reality and immerse themselves in a different culture - preferably all while basking in the sunshine.

Forget Rome, Venice and Milan, because nestled high in the Tuscan hills, there's a little piece of Scotland in the form of the beautiful walled town of Barga. But that's not where the similarities between Barga and Scotland end. Barga holds regular Burns Suppers and plays host to Scottish weddings. It even has its very own annual 'Scottish Week'. Every year in September, the town holds all kinds of events celebrating Scotland.

Visitors can expect to see locals playing bagpipes, as well as traditional dancing and restaurants serving Scottish breakfasts.
