Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano called the graffiti — "Ivan+Haley 23" — carved into the almost 2,000-year-old Flavian Amphitheatre "serious, undignified and a sign of great incivility".According to the Italian ANSA news agency, local police are investigating and the man risks a fine of at least 15,000 euros and a jail sentence of up to five years.
In 2014, a Russian tourist was fined 20,000 euros for engraving a big letter "K" on a wall of the Colosseum and given a summary judgement and a suspended four-year jail sentence.
