ITV will air the harrowing documentary tonight as part of its anthology series
ITV will air a heartbreaking documentary on the murder of a young woman whose body was found in a suitcase. True Crime Presents is an anthology series focusing on serious crimes across the UK.
Having first launched last year, it takes viewers into real investigations and examinations of murder cases as well as notorious offenders as it has become a huge hit with fans of the genre. Tonight , ITV will air yet another deeply unsettling episode. Titled True Crime Presents: Murder at the Grand Canal, viewers can tune in to the fifth episode in the series tonight at 9pm on ITV.
According to Radio Times, the documentary will plunge viewers into a harrowing investigation when one woman's body was found in a suitcase. The episode will explore the death of 23-year-old Marta Ligman, whose remains were discovered floating in the Grand Union Canal in Little Venice, London. Little Venice is a peaceful canal district in West London, located near Paddington. It is famous for its colourful houseboats and village like atmosphere in the heart of the city.
However, one day had taken a sinister turn when a member of the public made a shocking discovery that led to a brutal investigation. According to the BBC, Tomasz Kocik was previously found guilty of murdering Marta Ligman and had been jailed for life. It was reported he was captured on CCTV dragging a suitcase from his home to the canal. But it wasn't until 10 days later that her remains were discovered by a houseboat occupant.
Tonight's episodes comes a week after a disturbing instalment was aired, titled a Deadly Betrayal which saw one mum murdered after believing she had met the man of her dreams. Described as a "collection of true crime documentaries that cover a range of real-life offences and notorious offenders," the series has been dubbed ideal viewing for fans of the true crime genre, with tonight's instalment set to delve into yet another brutal case.
Following previously episodes, the series has been dubbed a "brutal watch" with distressing scenes as one viewer previously said on social media that it was "absolutely heartbreaking", as another dubbed it "horrendous to watch". It is not yet known how many episodes will be available in this series, but the series will not air next Tuesday as it will replaced by Soccer Aid: More Than Just a Game at 9pm on ITV.
Series one focused on cases including serial killer Andrew Dawson and the murder of former EastEnders actress Gemma McCluskie. True Crime Presents: Murder at the Grand Canal aits tonight at 9pm on ITV.
