Acclaimed writer Jonathan Harvey is the brain behind many memorable Coronation Street storylines but he's decided to step away from the ITV soap after two decades
A Coronation Street stalwart has decided to hang up his scriptwriting pen after an impressive two decades on the iconic ITV soap. Renowned for shaping the Weatherfield world, the acclaimed writer Jonathan Harvey is stepping away from the show that witnessed his talent for 20 years. Since joining the team in 2004, he has masterfully crafted 331 episodes, leaving an indelible mark on characters portrayed by Sally Dynevor, Helen Worth, and William Roache among others.
The celebrated writer then clarified to his audience that, in fact, he had stepped down from his role at Coronation Street five months prior; however, the show's filming schedule meant his ultimate scenes only recently graced the screen: 'I actually left five months ago but it's shot so far in advance it's taken til now to air my last one! '.
