Coronation Street star Alex Bain is bowing out of his role as Simon Barlow after 15 years, but he has reportedly pleaded with bosses to allow him to stay in the soap
Coronation Street star Alex Bain is about to wave farewell to the ITV soap after 15 years on the cobbles as Simon Barlow .
The 22 year old has played Simon since he was just a child, but last year shared the news that he was quitting Weatherfield - although it has now been suggested that there was more to the story and that the dad-of-one would love to stay. Alex has spent almost three quarters of his life at Corrie and a source has now revealed to The Sun: "Alex has been putting on a brave face saying he quit the show but in reality bosses decided it was time for him to move on.
The soap actor has played Simon since he was seven years old, but has now finished filming on his final scenes with an explosive exit storyline for the character set to air in the summer. He hinted at his time on the soap being close to done in March as he posted on Instagram: "Well my day is done! Nice and short day today! I'm gonna miss this little space some dearly when I go! So glad I've got some shooting days left! So thankful!"
