The beloved Yorkshire-based drama, The Royal, had television audiences captivated every Sunday night for almost ten years.
As a successful spin-off from the adored series Heartbeat, this engaging medical saga was set in the fictional St Aidan's Royal Free Hospital.
Several actors from the cast have secured a range of roles, including appearances on soaps, Midsomer Murders, and even performances of Shakespeare's work, according to Yorkshire Live. Making an appearance on ITV's This Morning, real-life couple Robert Daws and Linda Armstrong reflected fondly on the series and discussed their lives post-The Royal, reports the Mirror.
In the same year The Royal began, he married his wife Amy Robbins, who portrayed his on-screen counterpart Dr Jill Weatherill. The couple share two daughters, in addition to Robert's son from a previous marriage. More recently, she was seen in Coronation Street playing Daisy's estranged mother. Wendy Craig took on the role of Matron. She had an illustrious acting career and a CBE to her name, and went on to feature in Emmerdale as Maisie after The Royal. She's also graced the screens in Death in Paradise, Waterloo Road, Marple, Not in Front of the Children, and the popular drama Unforgotten, as well as CBBC's The Worst Witch.
In 2018, Michelle took to Instagram to share details about her personal life, revealing she was in a relationship with Emmerdale producer Kate Brooks. The couple got married in 2019 in Tennessee, and Michelle later gave birth to their first son Edward Peter Brooks last October. She is a passionate advocate for cancer awareness following her brother's skin cancer diagnosis and regularly takes part in events for Cancer Research UK.
