Butland knows where it went to pot but he's taking solace from the prospect of home comforts
There wasn’t much of a warm welcome for Philippe Clement and his Rangers team as they headed back to Ibrox after Sunday’s Parkhead pasting. But Jack Butland hopes the prospect of returning to some home comforts will help lift his stunned squad from their Old Firm daze.
The keeper said: “It's not difficult to pick yourself up. Sunday’s result hurts. It's not what we want. It's not what we believe our club's about. But you have the beauty of being able to hopefully go back to Ibrox again soon, being back with the fans, and hopefully kicking on and putting this behind us.
Butland has now lined up against the Hoops on six occasions and the best he’s experienced was April’s 3-3 draw. The rest of those derby head-to-heads have offered nothing but misery. And Butland admits his side were sucked into making the same mistakes that cost them so ear last season. “It's a concern if you keep doing it . We’ve got lots of new players in, some new faces, different people that we need to get up to speed. But all of us as a collective, we need to address and defend these moments better because it then becomes difficult to get a foothold back in the game once you've done that. So while there was positive stuff early, we've given away some opportunities and conceded goals, and then it's a tough day.
