The defender was pleased to see his side rack up an impressive win but knows more hard work lies ahead.
Aberdeen jumped from 11th to sixth in the space of 90 minutes on Wednesday night but nobody at Pittodrie is leaping around the dressing room about it.
“Motherwell’s pitch was really good and we knew we’d be able to pass the ball. It was just about going out there and doing it because we didn’t do that enough at the weekend, although the pitch is really poor at Kilmarnock. We did that against Motherwell, started really well and just got stronger. We obviously knew our situation in the league, so we had to win this game and move ourselves up the table.
The confidence is up but MacKenzie reckons consistency is the key to happiness and Aberdeen haven’t found any this term. That, he hopes, is about to change. He added: “I’d like to think so. We’re struggling for a wee bit of consistency at the moment. He added: “The fans have been amazing this season, travelling all over the place in Europe, coming to Glasgow, going to Ross County. We know they’ll push us on at the weekend and are very grateful to them.
