Canberra Raiders star Jack Wighton has entered a not guilty plea to biting Newcastle Knights five-eighth Tyson Gamble on Sunday.

In the 46th minute of the Raiders extra time 30-28 loss to the Knights Gamble emerged from a tackle claiming he was bitten and furiously pointing to a mark on his left forearm.

I wished him luck at South Sydney next year, and genuinely hope he’s there round one. I don’t want to be the reason he misses out.

“He’s obviously looked back and said maybe I shouldn’t have made the complaint or something like that,” Parramatta fullback Clint Gutherson told the Big Sports Breakfast on Tuesday. “I tend to agree with the sentiment of the listeners. If you are going to make that allegation and bring it into the public sphere, surely you should be compelled to give evidence,” he said.
