A team of Jacksonville executives gathered Friday morning to perform repairs on a veteran’s home in the Oak Harbor neighborhood in Atlantic Beach.

The homeowner, Mr. Bob, is a 26-year Navy veteran who currently works as a school crossing guard at Neptune Beach Elementary.“I didn’t want a job, I wanted a reason to get up in the morning. That’s what the kids give me,” Mr. Bob said.CEO Build -- an opportunity for business leaders to get out of the office and help give back to the community.
“This blows me away, I can’t express... I don’t have the words,” Mr. Bob said. “They’ve repaired stuff already that I didn’t even know was wrong.”As part of this event, each participating company makes a financial contribution, ranging from $2,500 to $10,000, to support the cost of the home repairs. Unfortunately, inclement weather halted the repairs on Friday. However, the work is expected to be completed this weekend.Marcela joined News4JAX in 2023.
