After two seasons, Jake Allen has resigned as Houston County's head football coach and athletic director due to family reasons. He will continue as the school's track coach and physical education teacher.
David Mundee After two seasons, Jake Allen has stepped down as Houston County ’s head football coach and athletic director.
“Family reasons,” Allen said of his decision to resign. “There is a more important matter to deal with in regard to my family and being head football coach, I couldn’t . It was best that I step down as far as being the head football coach.” Houston County Superintendent Brandy White said the school system plans to conduct interviews this week for the position and hopes to have a possible hire at a board meeting next week. He said a handful of job applications have already been sent in for the positions, even though Allen didn’t resign until Friday.
Prior to coming back to Houston County, he was the offensive coordinator and track/field coach at Slocomb for two and a half seasons. He was wide receivers coach for the Dothan Tigers for three seasons before going to Slocomb.
