After a challenging regular season, Stars goalie Jake Oettinger is more ready than ever for a first-round playoff series with Vegas and deep postseason run.
Despite a rollercoaster year, Oettinger has been the NHL’s best goalie statistically over the past month with a 10-1 record, .941 save percentage and 1.54 goals-against average.
“He played 60 games last year, went deep into the Western Conference Final, goes through ankle surgery, doesn’t get a full summer of training, and he’s expected to show up in October and be an All-Star goalie and never lose,” his goalie partner Scott Wedgewood said. “It’s a position where everybody expects excellence all the time.
Over the last month, Oettinger has been the NHL’s best goalie statistically with a 10-1 record, .941 save percentage and 1.54 goals-against average. It’s a major improvement from his month prior where he went 5-4-1 with a .862 save percentage and 3.44 goals-against average.“Only myself and the people that are close to me know what I went through and the stuff I’ve been through,” he said. “It’s not always what it looks like on the outside. It’s not the easiest job in the world either.
