Oscar De La Hoya has criticised Paul's decision to fight Tyson, as he worries for the former heavyweight champion amid concerns surrounding his age and health.
Former world champion Oscar De La Hoya has voiced his concerns over Jake Paul's decision to fight boxing legend Mike Tyson , echoing the worries of others such as Conor McGregor about Tyson's age and health.
Several high-profile figures, including Conor McGregor and Eddie Hearn, have criticised the upcoming fight due to the significant age difference between the two fighters. Ahead of the Devin Haney versus Ryan Garcia match on Saturday, De La Hoya appeared on The MMA Hour and criticised Paul, accusing him of not living up to his claims of wanting to win a world title.
"The only critique I have for Jake Paul is that if you want to take the sport seriously then take the route world champions take. Fighting top 20, top 10, top five and eventually becoming the mandatory to the world champion. That's how you do it. That's how you gain the respect from the fight fans - not fighting Tyson."
