EXCLUSIVE Jake and Sophie described their wedding day as the 'best of their lives'
Former I'm A Celeb and X Factor star Jake Quickenden married the love of his life Sophie Church in a day they can only describe as the "best of their lives."
In a 3pm service on September 4, The X Factor star and his influencer partner of four years made their personalised vows, declaring to always be there for each other. “I cried for most of the morning, literally couldn’t stop crying,” he tells us. “Soph gave me a broach of my dad and my brother, so I could put it on my suit and it just set me off. Every time I showed somebody it, I just cried again. That was such a special part of the day for me. I cried again when I saw Soph coming down the aisle.”
Jake and Sophie, who chose Frank Ocean’s Godspeed for her entrance music, made sure they involved their children in the celebration too and Leo and Freddie had the important job of being honorary ring-bearers.“Leo was supposed to do the same, but he had a breakdown, so Sophie’s sister just carried him down the aisle. And then he sat and watched Coco Melon with my mum while we were getting married. But then, as we were doing the vows, he decided that he wanted to be at the front as well.
“I’m a bit more serious than Jake,” Sophie says. “But a lot of it was just to be there for him whenever he needs me and be his rock.” The speeches were a mix of laughs and sentimental words – although Jake’s childhood friends and best men Tom, Jack and Martin “stitched” him up, he says. After the meal, the couple took to the floor for their first dance to Kissing You by Des’ree sung live by one of Jake’s favourite singers Lilla Vargen.
“We had a saxophone player playing a long as well, which was amazing. I even got behind the decks and pretended I could DJ, when I can’t. It was just magic. We couldn’t have written a better day.” “I think nowadays people are so quick to chuck it all away, but we’re not like that. We are so good for each other and we love each other so much – you work on your differences. It’s a perfect relationship really, because I wouldn’t want us not to argue, not to bicker because when you do that you know that there’s still a lot of passion there.”
