Jameela Jamil no longer speaks to her parents, who she calls ‘incredibly fatphobic’.
The 33-year-old said: ‘My family were not helpful in that they were incredibly fat-phobic. Jutting hip bones were seen as a sign of peak brilliance both at home and at school. The former T4 presenter also addressed her anorexia diagnosis, saying: ‘I was existing on 300 calories a day and there was nothing I wouldn’t do to be thin.’Jameela, best known for playing Tahani on The Good Place, no longer speaks to her parents Shireen and Ali, who are divorced.Shireen has become a vocal campaigner against domestic violence and in 2015, successfully had Shireen’s Law passed, which eliminates the time limit on the reporting of domestic abuse cases.
