The Only Way Is Essex star James Argent has showed off his weight loss and revealed his determination to “have the biggest comeback of 2020” after being given a grave warning by doctors about his weight earlier this year.
James, 31, grinned in the Instagram photo as he sported goggles, a swimming cap and a towel around his waist. The reality star wrote in the caption: “I’m going to have the biggest comeback of 2020!!! After a few years of absence I’m now officially a member of @davidlloydchigwellofficial. Instagram “My 1st swim since attempting the epic challenge of the #EnglishChannel Its good to be back!” James’ motivational post received more than 27,000 likes and hundreds of comments from fans sending supportive messages. One said: “Get on it Arg lad #positivevibe365,” while another added: “You go for it. Sending you love. Go Smash it xx.” And a third wrote: “Keep going Arg!! x” and another said: “Its never too late arg ..... good for you! Xx” [sic] Arg took part in the huge mission to swim the English Channel as part of a relay team of celebrities to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer in their Sink Or Swim challenge which aired on Channel 4 last month. Despite the weeks of training and celebrities’ efforts, the final swim was forced to be called off halfway through because of the choppy conditions. Reflecting on his Sink Or Swim journey, James posted a series of videos on Instagram of him taking part in the final swim and wrote: “I’ve never worked so hard or been so committed to anything like I have with this in my life! Speaking about his weight and undergoing medical checks for the show, James told The Sun: “I’ve had check-ups. My heart’s OK, I have no signs of diabetes and my cholesterol is not too high. “But I was weighed and I was the biggest I’d ever been — around 24 stone. I could become ill or die. The swim is an opportunity to sort my life out.” Read More James Argent Earlier this year, Dr Ranj warned Arg that he was “significantly overweight” which caused him to be at risk of serious diseases like diabetes. Speaking to Arg on This Morning, Dr Ranj warned: “Arg, everything I’m about to say I say out of love but it’s tough love. You know you’re significantly over weight, we measured you earlier and we weighed you and your BMI is 44 which means you’re significantly obese and you’re at risk long term of things like heart disease and type 2 diabetes. “So looking at your measurements you actually long term need to lose 10 stone to get your BMI back towards that normal range and you need to lose 17 inches around your waist.“ He added: “Now, if you’re going to be realistic about this and let’s say if you aim for long term, you’re going to lose something like 2lbs a week which would be a sensible amount to start losing and you need to cut your daily calorie intake, so you need to be mindful of your calories, to around 2500 calories a day.“
