James Bond actor Frank McRae has passed away aged 80
James Bond actor Frank McRae, best known for playing Sharkey in 1989's Licence To Kill, has died at 80.
The official Twitter account for the James Bond film franchise paid tribute to the late thespian, tweeting on Thursday: "We are sorry to hear that Frank McRae, who played Sharkey in Licence To Kill, has passed away.Before Frank began his successful career in Hollywood, he enjoyed a good run playing for the Chicago Bears and the Los Angeles Rams in the sixties.
He added to his acting credentials with roles in the comedy film 48 hours in 1982 and 1993's Last Action Hero - the latter of which he starred alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. After keeping a low profile in the last few years, one of Frank's final gigs was as a voice actor for the 2018 animated film The 500 Foot Sister.Actor and director Robert Davi tweeted: "Saddened to hear of the passing of FRANK McRae a gentle soul - I remember his sense of humor and joy while we filmed License to Kill! Condolences to family and friends."
