James Corden has confirmed that he and Ruth Jones have completed the script for the final episode of Gavin and Stacey, admitting they will 'never write for Pam again'
James Corden has spilled the beans that he and Ruth Jones have finally put the finishing touches on the script for the much-anticipated final episode of Gavin And Stacey. The 45 year old former chat show king shared the exciting news that he and his fellow creator Ruth, 57, were working on a final comeback episode in May, confirming that fans of the hit sitcom are in for a treat with its Christmas return.
The series, which originally graced our screens from 2007 to 2010, made a smashing comeback in 2019 with a Christmas special that left viewers hanging as Nessa dramatically proposed to Smithy . Chatting with Chris Evans on his Virgin Radio breakfast show, James confessed: "We finished a script a while back and it was too long... rewrites are harder than any writing." He opened up about the challenges of rewriting, saying, "Rewriting is really difficult. Writing is really fun, because you can just go 'anything can happen.
An emotional James reflected on the end of an era, telling Chris how sentimental the process has been for him, especially considering his close bond with Ruth. He said: "We've finished writing, we will never write anything that Pam says again.." "And we will never come up with an interesting thing that Bryn has done. And we just looked at each other and we were just like, 'Ah, isn't that amazing?' To even have the luxury of deciding to end it and to be in a position where people still care."The actor, who is known for his stint on The Late Late Show from 2015 to 2023, is currently treading the boards in a West End play, The Constituent, alongside Motherland star Anna Maxwell Martin.
