James Trafford's first words after penalty save in Euro U21 final to secure England the trophy

James Trafford may have been part of the Manchester City set up since he was a boy, but it is not his time with the treble winners that has caught the headlines. The Cockermouth-born goalkeeper produced a magnificent double save to deny Spain an equaliser in the u21 European Final and secure England victory.

He is expected to play under former Blues defender Vincent Kompany at Burnley in the Premier League next season with an initial £15million fee agreed plus a potential £4m in add-ons for the highly-rated goalie. And now the young keeper claims he "knew" he would produce the remarkable instinctive saves to keep out Abel Ruiz’s late spot-kick and Aimar Oroz’s follow-up, reports The Mirror.

James added: “It means a lot for us, the record because it will take a massive effort to get broken. But we’re a very good team and we believe that no one can score against us and we showed it.” His team-mate, Anthony Gordon was chosen as player of the tournament and the striker was delighted to receive such recognition but paid tribute to Trafford.
