Man United suffered another defeat last weekend and Ruben Amorim produced a stunning quote after the game.
There are more bad football pundits than pundits worth listening to. Jamie Carragher is one of the best in the business and provides valuable insight on Sky Sports, but his analysis of Ruben Amorim this week was wide of the mark and Manchester United fans have hit back at his comments.
"I mean, why would you make a comment like that? It's the type of comment a pundit would make, someone in my position, and you would have to defend that in some ways. "The quote will follow him for the rest of the season and when he said that, he told journalists 'I'll give you a headline', but why he would want to do that as a manager, I will never know."
"I don't have much sympathy for the players, but from the manager's point of view, how can he go into the dressing room from now until the end of the season and try build them up and give them belief then can beat whoever they play, if he's said they are the worst team in United's history?" This is objectively one of the worst United teams of all time and Amorim addressed that. His predecessor, Erik ten Hag, was rightly hammered by insisting United were heading in the "right direction". Ten Hag sounded delusional and needed men in white coats to take him away.
When you have the privilege of attending Amorim's press conferences and sitting a few yards away from him, you appreciate his intelligence and his impressive communication skills.
