The Glasgow comedian, 63, was left cheered up after a phone call from what appeared to be comedy legend Sir Billy Connolly, as she's been transferred to a hospice amid her battle with terminal cancer for end-of-life care

Janey Godley has been given a much-needed boost as she faces end of life care following her terminal cancer diagnosis.

Janey cryptically posted on Twitter on Monday, "A Florida phone call from an old Glasgow pal can fair cheer me up. Same old darkest, offensive, humour and plethora of disgusting swearing as always! Laughter abound! She was forced to halt plans for a UK tour on the advice of doctors after her illness became worse. Making the announcement on social media, she said: “The chemo ran out of options and I couldn't take any more of it."

She said: “I didn’t think comedy was for people like me. And then this man with long hair and big wide flares and platforms comes onto the TV and he sounded like me. That just changed my life. "They had a Billy Connolly LP and they wore it to death, and everybody I know sat around and listened to that. That’s a cultural shift of magnificent proportions."
